Lisa Nicoll

BIOGRAPHY

Lisa Nicoll is a multidisciplinary artist working across genres including writing, photography, musical composition, and theatre. Her work involves the liminal and the belief that all space is sacred. She will often work concurrently on a poem and an image which becomes a dialogue between the verbal and the visual, two kinds of internal space. This creative process is an endeavor to further understand what is sacred, whether working in literary, visual, or musical arts. Her images are highly worked photographs of both abstract and representational forms, and, like her poems, begin with something real: an aspect of nature, the home, the human form, the city.

Poetry and fiction have appeared in journals including The Metropolitan Review and Poetlink. Dramatic work and musical compositions have been performed at The York Theatre, Emerging Artists Theatre, the Oxford Playhouse (UK), and Backstage at 54 Below. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild and lives in Brooklyn.
